There are many types of cameras all around the world and here I am going to teach you about the three most commonly used cameras.
- Firstly, there is the most commonly used camera, the 'point and shoot' camera, this type of camera is a still camera designed primarily for simple operation. They are very popular with people who don't associate themselves with being a photographer but want a easy to use camera to take snapshots of vacations etc. The main features of a 'point and shoot' camera are: They mainly have a viewfinder to see the picture you're taking and they normally come with a LCD screen, the ones that don't are known as disposable cameras. Most point and shoot cameras also come with a flash and digital zoom. If you where contemplating which point and shoot camera you should buy, I would recommend the Cannon IXUS 265 HSCompact digital camera.
- The next camera on this list is the Digital SLR (DSLR). This is the type of camera every professional photographer would use. The DSLR is a digital camera combining the optics and the mechanisms with a digital imaging sensor as opposed to photographic film, thus giving us better quality pictures. The DSLR also comes with a lot more features than a normal point and shoot camera, such as: custom white balance, if you want the perfect white balance customising is the best option, but one of the best features you can't do on a regular camera is 'depth of field' (see picture below) this is a measure of how much of the scene is in focus and is most easily changed in aperture.
3. Finally the last camera is the single lens reflex camera, this camera was one of the first cameras to be seen as a camera which was affordable to must people. A single lens reflex camera typically uses a mirror and prism (see picture below) to let the photographer view through the lens to see what exactly is being captured in their picture.
